ABOUT CRYSTAL Crystal Carodine Magee is a native of Minden, Louisiana, where she graduated salutatorian from Minden High School. She graduated cum laude from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a Bachelors of Arts degree (B.A.) in English in 1999. In 2002, she earned a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After receiving her law degree, she furthered her study of law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and earned a Master of Laws degree (L.L.M.) in May of 2003. Mrs. Magee was admitted to the Texas State Bar in November 2003. During law school, as well as being a Teacher’s Assistant, Mrs. Magee clerked at the Louisiana Senate and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. She also participated in a clinical education program during her last year of law school in which she defended juveniles in criminal court. While earning her Master of Laws degree, she clerked at a personal injury firm in Dallas, Texas, which specialized in catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice. After being admitted to the Texas State Bar, Mrs. Magee maintained a private practice committed to family, criminal and landlord/tenant law until she accepted a job with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office in November of 2004. At the District Attorney’s office, Mrs. Magee began as a misdemeanor prosecutor where she represented the State of Texas in plea negotiations, pre-trial hearings, probation revocation hearings, numerous bench trials and jury trials in various criminal matters. Mrs. Magee subsequently promoted to the Family Law Division where she represented the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (often referred to as Child Protective Services) in cases involving custody and termination of parental rights. In May 2007, Mrs. Magee opened her current law practice - THE CARODINE LAW FIRM. She practices in most counties in the Dallas Metroplex and has participated in many trials in both criminal and family courts. As committed as Mrs. Magee is to her law career, she is as equally dedicated to her church and community. While at the District Attorney’s office, Mrs. Magee participated in a mentoring program at Tomas Rivera Elementary School. She is also an active member of Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where she has been a member of the mentoring program for girls for several years. She is also a volunteer at the monthly legal clinic held at the church where indigent individuals receive information and direction in obtaining legal representation at a reduced rate or no cost. In her limited spare time, Mrs. Magee enjoys spending time with her family and friends. |
